Animations with Peace/War like Theme - Sorry for the english
Sorry for the english guys, but my writed French is simply awful ^^;
HI, i'm looking for some cartoons with Peace / War theme. Here in Italy i'm working to make a series of screenings for schools. I know only those 4 movies with that theme:
1 - Hadahi no Gen (Barefoot gen)
2 - Anne Furanku no Ikki (Japanese and French version) - Le Journal d'Anne Frank
3 - Hotaru no Haka
4 - When the Wind Blows
I'm looking for more movies, with similar theme. Anime or Cartoons, i don't care ^^ I was thinking about to put in the list even the Unicef Smurf commercial... I would like to have some short movies, i think will be interesting to put some short movies between the featured movies.
Thanks in advance!

Hello !
I have an animated serie for you. It's not a movie, but this one is really impressive : Now and then, here and there.
But you should see it first, because it's a tough tv show, even for children.
I recommend also one of the mini short movies of "Memories" from Otomo, "Cannon Fodder", or maybe "Stink Bomb".
Edit : How could i have forgotten "Nausicäa" ?

Nah, seriously, there's stuff in MSG. At least MSG 0080, war in the pocket, it tells war seen in the eyes of a kid. No heroes, just people dying because of war. But it's not short enought for school I guess. There's also Gundam Apocalypse #2 which tells the story of teenagers sent to war with half completed machines and ending butchered, just like in WW2 when kids were enlisted in the nazi army at the end of the war. But giant robots may distract the pupils...
if you want historical background,
There's the cockpit by Leiji Matsumoto. It's about war, WW2, seen by soldiers. there are 3 short stories.
here a webpage which may help you. I think that's about audiovisual material used in japanese schools. it's mainly focussed on the japanese side, victims of the bombs, and other famous tragedies which happened at the end of the war (sayonara okinawa...) .
