Super cool seeing an online gallery!

Satoshi Kon was a once in a generation kind of mind, perfectly blurring that line between reality and dreams. Opus is a particularly fun work, and the fact it was never finished adds to the reality bending nature of the book.

Now he's living that uncertain state of existence between dreams and our world

It's so awful that such a brilliant man died so young, but at least he graced us with wonderful works.

Some amazing art there! I would love an art book of all of those pictures. The one that moves me the most though is the drawing of him sleeping peacefully in his futon while Paprika cradles his head. It brings a tear to my eye. The industry lost a true legend when he died.

Your genius will live as long as people watch movies. May your spirit rest in peace. Arigato Kon-san! Merci, Monseiur Kon! Thank you, Mr. Kon!

Mr. Kon's animation inspired me to reach for my dreams, to become an animator. His death shocked me last year, and it still hurts. I miss him, and I really wish America could treat an animator like this.... one day.

RIP Satoshi Kon <3 I really miss him.

I absolutely loved Satoshi Kon's work. Whenever I imagine making my own animanga series, I would want it to be something that not only he would approve but also cherish like I did for everything he created. Mr. Kon showed me and the world that imagination should have no boundries. Yet that wacky imagination can form into the most brilliant and inspiring stories. For example, Millenium Actress is still the only movie that can make me tear up at its ending. Thank you for everything you have given me, Mr. Kon. I just hope one day I can return the favor.

  Richard Brookman - 25/08/2011 - 16:54
Great job to all involved in this tribute. From the artists to the webmaster. Thank you for allowing everyone to view the art pieces and history in your show.

  Vanessa Risti - 25/08/2011 - 16:12
Such a beautiful tribute to one of the greatest and most promising directors of the last 20 years. His films transcend the pervasiveness of Japanese animation, a medium that has a sort of taboo influence on popular culture, and open hundreds of doors to filmmakers and animators around the world. Kon's films bridge the gap between animation and art, which is something that not many filmmakers can do. R.I.P., Mr. Kon. Thank you for bringing your ideas to the world, even if it was only for a brief moment. Wherever you are, I hope you're having some fantastic dreams.
