Miyazaki & Ghibli qui avaient déjà remporté la statuette en 2003 pour Spirited Away (Le Voyage de Chihiro).
Et Miyazaki qui n'a pas non plus fait le déplacement, comme la dernière fois. Aucun représentant de Ghibli n'ayant non plus pris la parole sur scène suite à l'annonce (seulement après, dans la press-room).
Mais Toshio Suzuki (et Nippon Television maintenant aussi sans doute) savent quand même évidemment que cela représente quand même quelque chose, d'ailleurs une ressortie du film a été annoncée dans la foulée dans les salles japonaises le 20 mars, avec cette fois (et c'est rare) le doublage anglais (sous-titré en japonais évidemment), le tout enrobé d'un nouveau poster (toujours aussi minimaliste) mentionnant les prix du film.

Une course et un lobbying que les deux hommes, et surtout Miyazaki, ne semblent clairement pas non plus beaucoup pratiquer, et ce n'est pas plus mal.
Hayao Miyazaki qui commence également à physiquement accuser son âge, en rappelant qu'il a 83 ans, et qu'il n'était pas apparu en public depuis des années.
Il n'a accordé absolument aucune interview (écrite ou filmée) pour son dernier film, toutes les photos de lui encore récemment utilisées par la presse & co étant en fait anciennes.
Et même les tournages/images du récent documentaire NHK commencent à dater, "Le Garçon et le Héron" ayant été en réalité terminé très longtemps avant sa sortie.
Sans oublier bien sûr une fameuse barbe que le réalisateur n'arbore plus depuis un moment.
En souhaitant aux deux hommes de garder tout leur sourire et leur mental encore longtemps.

Ce reportage de 80min n'est donc disponible pour l'instant qu'au Japon, et que pour les abonnés NHK Plus en replay.
Il revient sur les 7 années de gestation et production du dernier film en date d'Hayao Miyazaki et du Studio Ghibli (The Boy and the Heron), et fait aussi notamment la part belle à l'aura, la mémoire et l'importance de Takahata sur le travail de Miyazaki (en général, les deux hommes ayant collaboré ensemble pendant plus de 55 ans).
A noter également que Takeshi Honda (directeur d'anim du dernier film de Miyazaki) a signé plusieurs dessins spécialement pour ce documentaire, mettant en scène des souvenirs / moments de vie entre Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, Yoshifumi Kondo, Toshio Suzuki...

Comme son nom le suggère, ce reportage couvre 7 années de production du film, la chaîne japonaise ayant depuis longtemps pour habitude de produire ce type d'émission dans le cadre de son programme "Professional Work Style", parfois proposé plus tard avec sous titres anglais via NHK World.

Toujours basé sur la chanson titre du film, "Spinning Globe" de Kenshi Yonezu, et après un précédent clip de 2 minutes, ce nouveau clip fait lui pas moins de 5 minutes, toujours exclusivement composé de séquences du film, et donc toujours avec un risque de "spoil" comme dans tout trailer ou tout extrait (spéciale dédicace toujours aussi à la stratégie / fake-religion de com initiale qui n'avait pas vécu longtemps).
A noter également que des sous-titres sont proposés sur la vidéo pour la traduction des paroles de la chanson, et dans pas moins de 10 langues : anglais, français, allemand, italien, coréen, polonais, espagnol, portugais, russe, chinois.

Cette annonce, faite seulement à l'instant, a de quoi surprendre. Ghibli expliquant simplement que ce compte n'était destiné qu'à promouvoir / accompagner la sortie du nouveau dernier film d'Hayao Miyazaki (même s'ils ont aussi promu bien d'autres choses).
Libre à eux en tous cas de continuer à aller à contre courant de pas mal d'habitudes de communications, et de faire notamment dans la non-communication (tout comme Hayao Miyazaki qui n'a accordé aucune interview - et ne s'est pas du tout concrètement exprimé - au sujet de son nouveau film).
Et à titre personnel, cela me régale dans la mesure où je prends un plaisir certain à continuer d'esquiver toute critique du film et autres enièmes Ghibli blablas, afin de préserver la pureté naturelle du visionnage d'une telle oeuvre non accompagnée (et en l'occurrence ici de mes prochains revisionnages du film, ayant donc déjà eu la chance de le voir en septembre dernier).

Sinon je pointe aussi le trailer espagnol - où le film est ainsi nommé "El chico y la garza" - même si c'est une copie conforme de la bande annonce américaine.
A noter que j'ai eu la chance de voir le film ce soir en projection presse, mais je n'en dirai pas plus pour l'instant, pour ne pas spoiler.

- Hayao Miyazaki (82 ans) a remercié hier le festival de San Sebastian (Espagne), où son dernier film est projeté, et qui a décerné au réalisateur le prix Donostia, qui récompense l'ensemble de carrière.
Cela faisait très longtemps que Hayao Miyazaki (qui a donc rasé sa barbe) n'était pas apparu en public, et il ne donne quasiment plus d'interviews non plus.
Dans ce message vidéo, diffusé lors de la cérémonie d'ouverture du festival, il a aussi déclaré travailler actuellement sur des expositions pour le Ghibli Park.
- De son côté, dans la foulée du rachat du Studio Ghibli par Nippon Television, le producteur Toshio Suzuki a déclaré que dans le futur Ghibli pourrait être amené à produire des séries TV d'animation, ce qu'ils n'ont jamais fait jusque là (à l'exception de "Ronja, the Robber's Daughter", mais où ils n'étaient pas producteur principal, et la série avait été animée chez Polygon Pictures).

Le producteur Toshio Suzuki (75 ans) cherchait un successeur, il a proposé Goro Miyazaki, mais Hayao Miyazaki (82 ans) a refusé (et Goro Miyazaki aussi).

En revanche, c'est l'occasion pour moi de faire une petite brève en ressortant de vieilles archives, comme un chouette strip BD de Boulet fait en 2017, ou encore des propos de Hayao Miyazaki & Toshio Suzuki datant de 1996, lors de la production du film (et du making-of) de Princesse Mononoke (qui était alors déjà évoqué comme le dernier film potentiel du réalisateur, surtout qu'il était déjà âgé, selon son producteur ;-p).
Bref, cela fait donc près de 40 ans que Miyazaki a annoncé plusieurs fois sa retraite, mais le fait qu'il continue encore de faire des films - alors même qu'il n'a plus reparlé de retraite depuis 10 ans - reste encore visiblement une "news" pour certains ;-p
In memoriam, les dates des précédentes *annonces* de départ à la retraite de Hayao Miyazaki (en tant que réalisateur de long métrages en tous cas, car il sait faire d'autres choses en fait, comme des courts ou des mangas ;-) :

Donc en gros, il a annoncé arrêter de faire des films après Laputa, puis après chacun de ses nouveaux films depuis Porco Rosso, à l'exception de son dernier en date, Le Garçon et le Héron. La seule nouvelle information du moment étant donc peut-être que c'est ce running gag qui est désormais mis à la retraite ;-)

Et voici donc le premier trailer de The Boy and the Heron (Le Garçon et le Héron), le nouveau film d'Hayao Miyazaki et du Studio Ghibli.
Cette bande annonce officielle a été produite et mise en ligne aujourd'hui par le distributeur GKIDS pour la sortie nord américaine (USA / Canada), calée le 8 décembre.
Et donc la communication à l'international pour ce film commence bien en amont, comme pour n'importe quel film, et contrairement au Japon (où des choses ont commencé à être révélées seulement 1 mois après la sortie). Et tout cela avec l'aval de Ghibli, évidemment.
Sinon pour l'anecdote, et ce ne sont peut-être pas des coïncidences, cela fait aujourd'hui 10 ans - jour pour jour - que Miyazaki avait annoncé sa retraite lors d'une très médiatisée conférence de presse ;-] Et aujourd'hui aussi sort au Japon un coffret Bluray d'un documentaire de plus de 6 heures sur la création du Ghibli Park.

Ne sont pour l'instant montrés que le synopsis et le logo anglais du film (sur un bout de musique probablement tiré de ce dernier), mais l'information intéressante (pour ceux qui vont jusqu'au bout des choses) c'est que la fin de cette vidéo annonce la mise en ligne d'un premier vrai teaser du film la semaine prochaine.
De quoi donc me faire encore sourire en me rappellant de la théorie perchée & infondée de quelques personnes assurant qu'il n'y aurait jamais aucune communication ni au Japon (je vous remets le lien des images officielles avec boutons de téléchargements et de partages sur le site de Ghibli) ni dans le monde entier (voili voilou).

Et je souris donc encore en confirmant qu'il ne s'agissait donc ni du bon titre, ni de la bonne date, ni du bon distributeur annoncés par certains sites & médias il y a quelques semaines - une rumeur que je n'avais pas relayé - et il s'agissait donc en revanche bien du titre suggéré par Allociné (et relevé par mes soins) il y a peu ;-)

La communication autour de ce film n'a donc absolument jamais été verrouillée de manière religieusement immuable. Une communication par étapes simplement, comme souvent (et ici avec une 1ère étape de non-com très osée, annoncée en juin, et qui n'aura donc duré que quelques semaines).
Ce magazine propose donc un dossier de 80 pages sur le Studio Ghibli et notamment le dernier film de Miyazaki, avec des interviews de différents intervenants (dont Toshio Suzuki).

Rien de très surprenant cependant pour quiconque connaît un peu le monde de la communication et de la distribution, il s'agit évidemment d'une stratégie par étapes, et un certain Hayao Miyazaki, qui était officiellement inquiet de la 1ère phase de (non) communication (dont il n'était pas du tout maître, évidemment aussi), doit probablement être un peu plus rassuré maintenant.
