En effet, Kimitachi wa Dou Ikiru ka (How Do You Live ?) est toujours prévu dans les salles japonaises le 14 juillet 2023, comme annoncé de longue date.
Et si certains s'étonnent qu'il n'y ait encore ni images ni trailer, c'est oublier que tout ceci est normal au regard des habitudes de communication (tardives) de Ghibli.
Comme par exemple lors de la sortie il n'y a pas si longtemps du précédent film de Miyazaki, Kaze Tachinu (Le Vent se lève) : la bande annonce avait été dévoilée à peine 1 mois avant, et les premières images ... 45 jours avant ;-]

Avec tout d'abord Pompoko - Image Boards (1994), petit livre très épais (440 pages) et surtout infiniment copieux en images, puisqu'il regroupe des images boards et autres recherches graphiques réalisées par Yoshiyuki Momose & Shinji Otsuka pour le film. Un artbook d'autant plus précieux que le Studio Ghibli n'a malheureusement jamais sorti de "Art Of" de ce film.
Et aussi l'artbook de Marco (3000 Leagues in Search of Mother), publié en 1991 (Newtype Illustrated Collection), et honorant la série réalisée par Takahata en 1976 (avec Hayao Miyazaki & Yoichi Kotabe dans l'équipe créative). Une oeuvre elle aussi malheureusement assez méconnue (car diffusée dans peu de pays étrangers, et pas en France).

Et pour l'occasion, le Studio Ghibli (toujours sur Twitter) a fait faire des dessins hommages au film par de très grands noms de l'animation japonaise : Takeshi Honda et Toshiyuki Inoue.
Et ils ont aussi remis en avant un autre dessin fait il y a quelques temps par Akihiko Yamashita pour une rediffusion de Lupin the 3rd Part II.

La collection comprends notamment un Totoro sculpté dans du camphre, le bois du même type d'arbre où vit Totoro.

Il s'agira donc de captations de cette performance jouée l'an dernier au Japon, conçue par John Caird (Les Misérables, Royal Shakespeare Company), et avec deux comédiennes différentes (selon les représentations) pour le rôle de Chihiro : Kanna Hashimoto et Mone Kamishiraishi.

Le distributeur déclarant : Enfin disponible en DCP pour la 1re fois en France, le film était jusqu’ici l’un des très rares du catalogue du légendaire studio japonais à ne plus pouvoir être vu en salles faute de matériel adéquat. Nous sommes heureux que les spectateurs français puissent voir ou revoir au cinéma ce chef-d’œuvre de l’animation.

- La Cité Internationale de la Tapisserie d'Aubusson dévoile aujourd'hui à 15h30 (en live sur Youtube) sa deuxième tapisserie officielle inspirée par les films d'Hayao Miyazaki, dans le cadre du projet L'imaginaire de Hayao Miyazaki en tapisserie d'Aubusson sur lequels ils oeuvrent depuis deux ans (la première tapisserie avait été dévoilée l'an dernier).
- Dans le cadre d'une collaboration merchandising avec la marque de Loewe (vêtements/accessoires) autour de Howl's Moving Castle (dont le détail sera dévoilé début février), un Château Ambulant gonflable vient d'être installé sur le parvis du Musée de l'Homme à Paris (il restera jusqu'à demain, avant d'entamer une tournée dans plusieurs autres villes et pays).
NB : avant de dévoiler cette vidéo, le Studio Ghibli avait d'abord posté de nombreuses photos mystérieuses de la Tour Eiffel, j'aurai adoré que ce soit pour une collaboration célébrant le centenaire de la disparition de Gustave Eiffel (c'est cette année), mais il ne s'agissait donc pas de ça, et après leur *court métrage* Star Wars, clairement il est peut-être temps de commencer à revoir à la baisse certaines espérances Ghibliesques ;-\ (sauf pour le nouveau dernier film de Miyazaki père, bien sûr).

- Art Collection of Ghibli Museum, nouvelle série d'illustrations par des artistes du Studio Ghibli, façon décors inspirés de leurs films, et vendus par le Musée Ghibli sous la forme de très grands prints à afficher sur son mur. Commercialisés uniquement au Japon donc, mais on peut profiter de belles images en ligne notamment ici, notamment pour les nouveaux visuels Howl's Moving Castle (par Akihiko Yamashita + Yoji Takeshige) et Kiki's Delivery Service (par Katsuya Kondo + Noboru Yoshida). Sachant qu'il s'agit donc au final du projet dont j'avais observé un teasing à base de décors il y a quelques jours ;-]
- Loewe x Ghibli, une illustration promo faite par le studio (et Yoji Takeshige) pour les 50 ans des activités au Japon de la fameuse marque de luxe espagnole. Le dessin représentant l'ancienne gare d'Harajuku, qui était le dernier bâtiment de ce type (station de transport) construite en bois à Tokyo, avant sa démolition en 2020.

Je continue mes perpétuels partages de souvenirs (et mises à jour d'anciennes vidéos en meilleure qualité) avec à nouveau des pubs du Studio Ghibli, et pas des moindres, puisque certaines sont réalisées par le maître Miyazaki (père, donc), ce qui est un fait rare.
Il s'agit des publicités House Foods que j'avais relayé de 2003 et 2004, réalisées respectivement les mêmes années par Hayao Miyazaki et Yoshiyuki Momose.
Je proposais déjà ces pubs sur le Catsuka Player depuis près de 20 ans, j'en profite donc aujourd'hui pour les mettre à jour en meilleure qualité dans un bout à bout de mon cru, d'autant plus qu'une remasterisation 16/9 (cropée, mais en HD, et avec nouvelle musique) avait été opérée en 2016 pour la série de spots de Miyazaki (les spots de Momose n'étant eux dispos qu'en SD 4/3 comme à l'époque).

Mais une illustration en particulier, signée pour les personnages par Takeshi Honda (character designer & directeur de l'animation du prochain film d'Hayao Miyazaki), s'inscrit en fait dans une série de plusieurs dessins réalisés en collaboration (promotionnelle) avec Toyota Home (filiale immobilière de Toyota).
Le Studio Ghibli a commencé à publier ces images sur ses réseaux, mais je vous propose de voir d'ores et déjà l'ensemble de ces illustrations ;-]

Réalisé par Katsuya Kondo, ce petit film est mignon mais oubliable, et il rappelle surtout d'autres films (de commande) que le studio a pu faire par le passé dans le même style et avec le même réalisateur, sauf que le client ne vendait pas ça comme un "court métrage", mais bien comme une pub.
J'en profite donc pour repointer sur Twitter aujourd'hui certains de ces autres précédents films promos par Katsuya Kondo & Ghibli, comme les pubs Nisshin Seifun et Taiko no Tatsujin.

Comme annoncé, le Ghibli Park ouvre le 1er novembre Japon.
La télévision japonaise couvre déjà largement l'événement avec de nombreux reportages dévoilant le parc (une journée presse ayant visiblement eu lieue, dur dur le métier de journaliste ;-).
Vous trouverez ci-dessous une douzaine de vidéos que j'ai identifié, et si vous ne voulez pas vous faire trop spoiler, j'en ai tiré un petit montage / Catsukut d'1min fait par mes soins ;-]
Pour rappel, ce parc se trouve à Nagoya, dans le lieu conçu en 2005 pour l'exposition universalle d'Aichi, et où avait déjà été construite la maison de Satsuki & Mei (Totoro).
Et seule une partie du parc ouvre dans un premier temps, avec 3 premières zones : un espace dédié à Totoro (avec la maison de Satsuki & Mei donc), un espace dédié à Whisper of the Heart, et un espace plus large regroupant commerces, cinéma, et expositions temporaires (recréant des scènes mythiques de films du studio).

(de retour au musée Ghibli + quelques upscales)
Déjà 20 ans : Mei & the Kitten Bus, par Hayao Miyazaki (de retour au musée Ghibli + quelques upscales)
Depuis plus de 20 ans le Musée Ghibli fait produire des court métrages d'animation qui sont projetés exclusivement dans son cinéma, et le plus célèbre d'entre eux et sans aucun doute Mei and the Kitten Bus (Mei to Konekobasu), réalisé en 2002 par Hayao Miyazaki dans l'univers de Totoro.
Ce petit film de 13 minutes fête donc cette année ses 20 ans, et il est d'ailleurs reprogrammé depuis hier et durant tout le mois de septembre au Musée Ghibli.
À l'occasion de cet anniversaire, j'ai eu envie d'upscaler quelques unes des images du film qu'on ne peut normalement voir qu'en petit dans le pamphlet (brochure) du court métrage, lui aussi vendu exclusivement par le musée.
Qui dit upscale dit donc procédé par IA, comme d'habitude pas de garantie que le résultat soit fidèle à 100% au rendu original, mais comme vous le savez maintenant mes différents tests d'upscales sont simplement là pour vous proposer (et à moi aussi ;-) un petit *feeling HD* de choses que l'on ne peut habituellement pas voir en HD.
