Vu que l'annonce semble être passée un peu inaperçue (surtout à l'étranger), je relaie cette bonne nouvelle : Netflix s'associe avec le réalisateur Guillermo del Toro et l'école des Gobelins pour monter un studio d'animation spécialisé stop-motion à Paris.

Un lieu hybride, dédié à la fois à la formation mais aussi à la production. Co-fondé par Del Toro, ce hub créatif sera situé dans l'enceinte même du campus des Gobelins.

PARIS, France – October 10, 2025 – Netflix, GOBELINS Paris and legendary storyteller Guillermo del Toro have joined forces to launch a groundbreaking stop-motion studio that will shape the storytellers of tomorrow and propel the art form into the future.

Conceived by Academy Award® winner Guillermo del Toro, this visionary partnership blends world-class artistry, educational excellence and Netflix’s unwavering passion for entertainment without borders. For the next generation of animation artists, this initiative offers an invitation to learn, create and dream bigger than ever before.

Located within the renowned GOBELINS Paris campus, the new studio is co-funded by Guillermo del Toro and Netflix, is much more than a simple training centre; it will be a living laboratory of experimentation and research. This unique creative environment will enable master filmmakers, passionate mentors and talented students to collaborate, innovate and push the boundaries of stop-motion craft. The 2025–2026 academic year will commence with a dedicated planning phase, with launch details to be announced in the coming months.

The project is also a living tribute to the great legacy of the late Mark Gustafson, whose artistry and influence helped shape a generation of animators and whose work on films such as Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio inspired the world. This new chapter builds on years of collaboration and trust - spanning scholarships, masterclasses and industry exchanges - elevating the relationship between Netflix, GOBELINS and Guillermo del Toro to exciting new heights.

Investing in the next generation of creators is a core part of Netflix’s mission. This stop-motion studio stands as a beacon of commitment to opening doors and creating clear pathways for emerging talent. The initiative is also a natural extension of Netflix’s leadership in French and international animation, following celebrated partnerships with creative forces such as Fortiche (“Arcane”), TAT (“Astérix: Le Combat des Chefs”) and Blue Spirit (“Blue Eye Samurai”), together with a longstanding presence at the Annecy Film Festival.
