Voila déjà 6 ans que je relaie les court-métrages 3D réalisés seul par Gints Zilbalodis, jeune artiste letton âgé d'à peine 23 ans.

Chaque année il sortait un film d'au moins 10min, et cette fois il se lance dans un projet encore plus fou, un long-métrage nommé Away, toujours réalisé seul, et qu'il finira normalement l'an prochain.

Pas plus d'infos sur l'histoire, mais étant donné le côté très planant de la bande annonce ci-dessous, et connaissant le style 3D un peu cinématique/contemplatif de l'auteur, je n'ai pas envie de lui en demander plus pour l'instant, et juste profiter des ambiances.



When I began working on Away in 2015 I decided to focus at first on a small portion of the film to test all the visual and technical ideas. This eventually became Oasis, a short film that was shown in some festivals.

I’ve learned a lot since I began working on this project. Now looking back at Oasis, I see so many mistakes. In the final film the Oasis segment will be almost entirely remade.

The whole film is rendered entirely through Maya’s viewport using playblasts. This saves so much time and also makes it much easier to tweak small details endlessly without worrying about the render times.
