Toujours produit par le studio japonais Kamikaze Douga (que je consacrais déjà il y a plus de 20 ans quand ils étaient encore indés et méconnus), toujours réalisé par Junpei Mizusaki, épaulé cette fois par Shinji Takagi (qui avait déjà bossé sur le 1er film, anyway).

Première bande annonce pour "Gill", le nouveau long métrage sud-coréen de Jae-Hoon Ahn ("Green Days"), produit au sein de son Studio MWP dont je vous ai déjà beaucoup parlé par le passé.
Le film sera présenté en avant première lors du prochain Festival d'Annecy.

Réalisé par Popurika et Ohajiki, deux artistes indés membres du collecif Hurray! jusque là surtout connu pour des clips (dont Moonlight co-réalisé par Popurika, vu dans mes colonnes il y a quelques années).
Produit par 100studio, le film est toujours attendu dans les salles japonaises le 14 juin.

En rappelant que ces bestioles avaient été à l'origine simplement créées en 2012 pour les festivals FMX/ITFS de Stuttgart, pour devenir ensuite une sorte d'IP, notamment exploitée dans des jingles de la chaîne française France 3 en 2017.

Ils avaient réalisé un pilote de 8 minutes en 2010, jamais mis en ligne, uniquement des bande annonces et making of, que j'avais relayé à l'époque ici sur Catsuka, et également diffusé à la TV dans mon émission sur Nolife.
Encore un triste exemple de projet d'animation français pour adultes qui n'a jamais vu le jour. Après, ils cherchaient à l'époque un budget de plus de 30 millions d'euros, les films français d'anim ayant réussi à décrocher un telle somme se comptant historiquement, et malheureusement aussi, sur les doigts d'une seule main je pense (alors qu'aux USA par exemple, c'est monnaie courante).

- le projet de film "Hyakuemu", de Kenji Iwaisawa ("On-Gaku") sera encore une fois en 2D/rotoscopie, avec cette fois le talentueux Keisuke Kojima (Ousama Ranking) au character design & direction de l'animation, et Keikankun Yamaguchi en directeur artistique.
- le projet "Housenka" de Baku Kinoshita ("Odd Taxi"), produit au studio CLAP, aura comme concept designer Michinoku Toge.
- le film "Les Légendaires" sera réalisé (en 3D) par Guillaume Ivernel ("Chasseurs de dragons"), avec également Cécile Corbel ("Arrietty") à la musique. Le tout bien évidemment basé sur la BD de Patrick Sobral.

Depuis, la campagne a réussi, le film est fini, et a commencé sa vie en festivals.

Le film est produit par Inicia Films et Hampa Studio (Espagne), et Belvision (Belgique).
Actuellement sur la table au Marché du Film de Cannes, le projet vient d'y trouver un vendeur international, Filmax (il s'agit même de retrouvailles, puisque Filmax avait à l'origine produit Nocturna, à l'époque désormais révolue où ils avaient tenté de devenir un grand studio d'animation façon Dreamworks espagnol).

Sortie prévue en salles le 16 octobre 2024 (via Haut et Court), et en attendant en festivals (dont Cannes en ce moment, et Annecy bientôt).

Synopsis :
À Bornéo, à la lisière de la grande forêt tropicale, Kéria recueille un bébé orang-outan trouvé dans la plantation de palmiers à huile où travaille son père. Au même moment Selaï, son jeune cousin, vient trouver refuge chez eux pour échapper au conflit qui oppose sa famille nomade aux compagnies forestières. Ensemble, Kéria, Selaï et le bébé singe vont lutter contre la destruction de la forêt ancestrale, plus que jamais menacée. Mais pour Kéria, ce combat sera aussi l’occasion de découvrir la vérité sur ses origines.

Avec des chansons de Rare Americans, et en première mondiale au prochain Festival d'Annecy (séances "Midnight Special"), où ce long métrage indépendant sera aussi à disposition des acheteurs / distributeurs du côté du Marché du Film.

Pour rappel, ce film, coproduit par Sacrebleu, Dream Well et Take Five, est sélectionné aux festivals de Cannes (Un Certain Regard) et d'Annecy.
Et pour rappel également, la première fois que j'ai partagé le travail de ce réalisateur letton, c'était en 2012. Il avait 17 ans, et il venait déjà de réaliser en solo un court métrage (mettant déjà aussi à l'époque en scène un chat en personnage principal).

Déjà évoqué dans mes colonnes il y a un an, le film est réalisé par Alexandre Heboyan ("Mune"), sur un scénario de Matthieu Delaporte & Alexandre de la Patellière ("Le Comte de Monte-Cristo").
Sortie espérée en 2026, et préventes au Marché du Film de Cannes ces prochains jours.
Il est donc loin le temps où SND / M6 Studio espéraient enchaîner les films d'Astérix rapidement (le 1er date de 2014, le second de 2018).

En effet, le projet sera pitché au prochain Festival d'Annecy, avec une nouvelle réalisatrice, Hefang Wei (Louise et la légende du serpent à plumes), associée au studio Blue Spirit.
Basé sur la bande dessinée de Golo Zhao et Jean Marie Omont, et évoqué pour la première fois dans mes colonnes en 2012, ce projet de film a changé de mains plusieurs fois (Cédric Babouche ayant été un temps réal dessus).

Sauf qu'en dénichant une bande-annonce mise en ligne au fin fond de la programmation du Japanese Film Festival, j'ai pu y voir quelques secondes de comparaisons peu flamboyantes...
De loin, cette version *4K* ne semble pas apporter grand chose (pour rester poli), et en y regardant de plus près, je vois apparaître sur cette version *restaurée* des petites taches blanches qui sentent bon (ou plutôt mauvais) l'upscale pourri.
Bref, ce film mériterait une vraie remasterisation, d'autant plus qu'il avait été projeté - et primé - au festival de Venise.
Sachant aussi qu'il ne s'agit pas d'une simple compilation de la série, puisqu'ils avaient justement pour ce film refaits des scènes de la série en meilleure qualité, pour mieux coller avec la vision originelle de Tezuka.
