LONG-MÉTRAGES
Quel plaisir de se réveiller avec la nouvelle bande annonce de INU-OH, le nouveau film d'animation de Masaaki Yuasa (Mind Game) et du studio Science Saru, basé sur le roman d'Hideo Furukawa.
Un staff de folie avec Taiyou Matsumoto (Amer Béton) au concepts designs, Nobutake Ito au chara design final, et plein d'animateurs seniors comme Atsuko Fukushima, Yasuhiro Nakura, Norio Matsumoto, Yoshimichi Kameda, Tokuyuki Matsutake, entre autres.
L'histoire prends place au 14e siècle au Japon, et tourne autour des spectacles de type "Sarugaku", à mi chemin entre théâtre et performances musicales.
Le film sort le 28 mai au Japon, et sera présenté en avant première française la semaine prochaine au festival d'Angoulême.

Deux projets de long-métrages que je suis depuis plusieurs années s'offrent de nouveaux posters à l'occasion du festival pro du Cartoon Movie qui vient de s'ouvrir à Bordeaux :
- Sidi Kaba, projet de film français de Rony Hotin (Le Vagabond de Saint Marcel, Momo) produit par Special Touch Studios, et déjà en partenariat avec KMBO & Pulsar Content pour la distribution & les ventes internationales.
- Unicorn Wars, nouveau film franco-espagnol d'Alberto Vazquez (Decorado, Psiconautas), produit par Autour de Minuit, Schmuby, Uniko, et Abano.

Nouveau trailer pour le film *live/anim* Anime Supremacy! de Toei qui sort le 20 mai au Japon.
Pour rappel (voir ma longue "brève" de l'an dernier) il s'agit d'un long métrage live réalisé par Kohei Yoshino (d'après le roman de Mizuki Tsujimura) qui narre l'histoire d'une jeune réalisatrice d'animation débutante qui travaille sur son premier anime, en concurrence dans le même studio avec un autre anime dirigé par un réalisateur senior.
Chacun des 2 anime réalisés par ces personnages fictifs ayant une grande place dans le film, avec 2 staffs différents pour ces parties animées :
"Soundback: Sô no Ishi" (l'anime réalisé par l'héroïne du film) sera en fait dans la vraie vie réalisé par Azuma Tani (Thermae Romae) avec Eisaku Kubonouchi au chara design et Takayuki Yanase au mecha design.
"Unmei Sensen Liddell Light" (l'anime du personnage réalisateur senior) sera lui réalisé par Takashi Otsuka (One Piece Stampede) avec Takahiro Kishida au chara-design.
Je me demandais si Toei allait pousser le concept jusqu'au point de sortir ces 2 animes *fictifs* en solos *hors du film*, mais pour l'instant ça n'est pas annoncé ;-]

Claude Barras, réalisateur du magnifique Ma Vie de Courgette, s'attaque à un nouveau projet de long métrage stop-motion adapté cette fois de la BD Ce n'est pas toi que j'attendais de Fabien Toulmé (publiée par Delcourt).
Ce projet sera présenté cette semaine au festival pro du Cartoon Movie, il est produit par Sombrero Films avec Helium Films ainsi que (une fois n'est pas coutume) France Télévisions Distribution.

Il y a une dizaine d'années je découvrais le court-métrage indé japonais stop motion Junk Head de Takahide Hori. Le réalisateur a depuis poursuivi le projet pour aboutir en 2017 à un long-métrage de 100 minutes qui n'a tourné que dans quelques festivals hors Japon, mais qui sort de manière inattendue au ciné en France le 11 mai via le distributeur UFO Distribution. Bravo à eux (surtout que Mad God n'est lui pas encore daté ;-).

DC League of Super-Pets est un long métrage d'animation 3D américain prévu cette année, basé sur un vieux comics de DC mettant en scène une équipe d'animaux super-héros.
Ce film réalisé Jared Stern en profite visiblement pour inclure plein de cameos d'autres super héros DC, comme par exemple Batman avec la voix de Keanu Reeves, de quoi amadouer internet (et même moi).

Le Japon va célébrer cette année les 100 ans de la naissance de Shigeru Mizuki, fameux mangaka (disparu en 2015) spécialisé notamment dans les yokai, et auteur (entre autres) du célèbre Gegege No Kitaro.
A cette occasion 2 animes ont été annoncés : un long-métrage nommé Kitaro Birth: The Mystery of Gegege par Toei Animation (qui sortira l'an prochain), et une série animée adaptée d'un autre manga de l'auteur, Akuma Kun (qui sera diffusée mondialement sur Netflix en 2023 également).

J'étais persuadé d'avoir déjà parlé de Pompo the Cinephile l'an dernier mais en fait non (et je crois me rappeler pourquoi, c'était le jour où Catsuka a brulé...).
Du coup je profite de l'annonce de sa sortie au cinéma aux USA (malheureusement toujours rien de prévu en France) pour pointer ce très chouette film (que j'ai vu l'an dernier) réalisé par Takayuki Hirao au studio CLAP, et où l'histoire tourne autour d'un assistant de production cinéphile qui va voir se proposer de nouvelles responsabilités ;-]

Après des années d'embargo, il n'y a toujours pas une seule image à montrer publiquement, mais au moins je peux enfin en parler : Benjamin Renner (Ernest & Célestine, Le Grand Méchant Renard) réalise un nouveau film d'animation nommé "Migration", cette fois ci produit par Illumination (Despicable Me) & Universal.
Migration is a modern-day comedy following a family of ducks who convince their over-protective father to go on the vacation of a lifetime as they attempt to migrate from New England, through New York City, and ultimately down to the Bahamas.

Parce que je viens tout juste de finir la saison 1 de la série Jujutsu Kaisen (sur les conseils de mon fiston ;-) et que j'ai plutôt bien aimé, je signale que Crunchyroll annonce la sortie cette année du très récent film d'animation Jujutsu Kaisen 0 au cinéma en France (sans date annoncée, mais comme ils le sortent aussi aux USA et au Canada en mars, ça devrait être dans ces eaux là j'imagine).

Voici le premier teaser d'un nouveau film d'animation de Pinocchio réalisé en stop motion par le légendaire Guillermo del Toro, aux côtés de Mark Gustafson.
Côté casting, on retrouvera Ewan McGregor, Tilda Swinton, Christoph Waltz ainsi que Ron Perlman.
Le tout est produit par Netflix, et sortira pour noël en décembre 2022.

Le segment Magnetic Rose de l'omnibus Memories est visible gratuitement/légalement sur le youtube de RetroCrush en VOSTA.
La qualité n'est pas optimale, mais c'est une bonne occasion de (re)voir ce cultissime moyen-métrage réalisé par Koji Morimoto, avec l'aide méconnue de Satoshi Kon.

Le deal de Netflix avec le studio anglais Aardman se poursuit :
- le film sequel de Chicken Run annoncé en 2020 se dote d'un titre : Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, prévu pour 2023, réalisé par Sam Fell.
- et la grande annonce du jour, c'est qu'un nouveau long-métrage de Wallace & Gromit est également prévu (pour 2024), réalisé par Nick Park.

Quelques nouvelles images du nouveau long-métrage INU-OH de Masaaki Yuasa (Mind Game) et du studio Science Saru dans ce nouveau petit teaser du film.
J'en profite également pour signaler que l'avant-première / expo / conférence du film au festival d'Angoulême n'est à ce jour plus confirmée compte tenu du récent décalage du festival en Mars pour cause de pandémie.

Le long-métrage Hilda and the Mountain King sorti aujourd'hui sur Netflix se dote d'un très beau générique / opening title signé par le studio canadien Giant Ant.
Le film lui est réalisé par Andy Coyle avec le studio Mercury Filmworks & Silver Gate Media, d'après sa série basée elle même sur la BD de Luke Pearson.

La série animée japonaise Odd Taxi (l'un de mes coups de coeurs de l'année) aura droit à un film qui sortira le 1er avril 2022 (et ce n'est pas une blague).
Cette version long-métrage sera en fait un récap de la série agrémenté de nouvelles séquences qui poursuivront l'histoire au delà de la fin de la saison 1.
