L'animateur français Jack-Amin Ibrahim, dont je vous relaie depuis longtemps de nombreuses petites animations persos, signe encore un très joli morceau avec cet hommage au manga 20th Century Boys de Naoki Urasawa.
A noter que Jack vient aussi d'atterrir sur Twitter/X (sachant qu'il était jusque là surtout sur Instagram), et que pour cette animation il a eu cette fois un peu d'aide (son frère Aimman a animé 2 plans, et le studio Wizz lui a prêté un bureau).

Ce docu réalisé par Lee Hyukrae (qui faisait aussi partie de ce groupe) revient avec tendresse et humour sur les souvenirs des membres interviewés, et dévoile aussi la toute première et méconnue réalisation de Bong Joon Ho, "Looking for Paradise", un court métrage d'animation en stop motion.
Disponible depuis vendredi sur Netflix (et sous le titre "Yellow Door : Laboratoire underground du cinéma coréen" en France), ce docu résonnera aussi je pense de manière très nostalgique chez toute personne ayant grandi dans les années 80/90 et qui a fait partie d'un groupe de cinéphiles/fans obsessionnels recherchant des films rares, faisant des copies VHS sous le manteau, des fanzines, etc (c'est mon cas ♡).

Sauf que, au regard du trailer qu'ils ont mis à dispo, mon oeil exercé n'a pas pu s'empêcher d'observer qu'il s'agit non pas d'une vraie remasterisation, mais d'un upscale AI, et de piètre qualité, digne des outils gratuits téléchargeables par n'importe quel quidam qui veut faire un upscale AI random en quelques clics.
Toute personne s'étant (comme moi) déjà amusée à faire des upscales AI verra en effet dans cette bande annonce des tics de rendus dégueulasses propres à certains des *models* d'upscales AI les plus basiquement répandus.
Je note aussi que peu de travail a été fait par l'éditeur en matière de denoising, deflickering, stabilisation...
Bref, tout cela ne semble pas joli joli, et mon petit doigt me dit qu'ils ne mentionneront sans doute même pas l'utilisation de l'AI.
Il y a un peu moins d'un an, j'avais déjà fait un thread sur Twitter pour sensibiliser au fait que les éditeurs devraient mentionner plus clairement (pour ne pas dire mentionner tout court...) l'utilisation de l'AI, et ce aux clients donc, puisqu'on parle de choses commercialisées.
Depuis, je note que la question de mentionner - et watermarker - un contenu généré ou traité par AI est tout simplement devenue une question mondiale, juridique et politique, sur laquelle planchent tous les pays et tous les acteurs de l'AI.
Donc si cela devient une nécessité pour n'importe quel contenu affiché, en toute logique il serait donc temps que les politiques comme le public s'emparent aussi de cette question pour n'importe quel contenu affiché ET commercialisé. Car pendant ce temps là, à part de très rares éditeurs communiquant sur l'utilisation de l'AI pour leurs *remasters*, la plupart usent de ces technologies sans jamais en faire mention nulle part (mais en usant par contre n'importe comment du terme remasterisation).
Ci-dessous quelques bouts de screenshots (que je n'ai même pas eu à upscaler ;-\) du trailer de ce *remaster* d'Urotsukidoji par Cinestrange.
Et pendant ce temps là, la société japonaise Tokyo Lab, qui détient des milliers de masters d'animes, dont potentiellement Urotsukidoji, va bientôt fermer et détruire ses archives non réclamées...

Un lieu qui sera doté d'une nouvelle salle de projection et de différents espaces destinés à accueillir événements, résidence d'artistes, expositions, boutiques... Ce projet se veut être un "hub" culturel à l'image de la Cinémathèque Française par exemple, et donc ici pour l'Animation.

Pencils Vs Pixels est un documentaire qui tente semble t-il de retracer l'histoire de l'animation 2D face à l'animation 3D depuis la fin des années 80.

Le géant japonais de la diffusion Fuji Television annonce aujourd'hui s'associer avec le géant SVOD chinois Bilibili dans le cadre d'un partenariat bilatéral et notamment la création d'une nouvelle case le soir nommée "B8station", sur la fameuse chaîne nippone, et qui sera donc dédiée à la diffusion de donghuas (animations chinoises) doublés en japonais (avec parmi les premiers titres "Link Click" & "Fairies Albums").
Bilibili qui a donc présenté en direct aujourd'hui son nouveau lineup 2023-2024 de productions animées (cf mes précédentes news donc aussi).
