Encore une news (la 47e :-) sur les japonais du Studio Colorido : ils viennent de signer un deal exclusif avec Netflix pour leurs 3 prochains long-métrages, incluant Drifting Home qui sort en septembre sur la plateforme.
Le film suivant sera réalisé par Tomotaka Shibayama, qui avait déjà signé A Whisker Away.

L'animateur vétéran Eric Goldberg a déclaré que Disney allait se remettre à produire des long métrages d'animation 2D, et que le studio avait même relancé une formation interne à l'anim traditionnelle (en tous cas dessinée) dans laquelle l'artiste intervenait.
Coup du marketing dans le cadre de la promo de la série Sketchbook ou réelle volonté de prod de Disney ? L'avenir le dira (en tous cas je suis pas sûr qu'on puisse faire dire n'importe quoi à Mr Goldberg ;-).

En 2019 je pointais sur Twitter l'adaptation sur scène de Nausicaa (Hayao Miyazaki) en pièce de théâtre Kabuki.
Et bien le show revient au Japon en juillet, sans aucun doute suite au succès de l'adaptation récente sur les planches de Chihiro (et aussi bien sûr car le Studio Ghibli ne sort plus de films, donc il faut bien combler l'attente avant l'ultime-ultime film de Miyazaki).

Une nouvelle web série animée de Pokemon pointe son nez, Pokemon: Hisuian Snow, dont la diffusion est prévue sur Youtube à partir du 18 mai.
Le premier visuel m'accroche bien, et le staff aussi : Studio WIT à la production, Ken Yamamoto à la réalisation, Kuro (dont je vous avais parlé il y a peu) au character-design, et Yuji Kaneko (Kill la Kill, Ousama Ranking) à la direction artistique.

Nouvelle bande annonce pour le long métrage d'animation Drifting Home du réalisateur Hiroyasu Ishida & du Studio Colorido (Penguin Highway, A Whisker Away), prévu pour une sortie mondiale sur Netflix le 16 septembre prochain.
L'histoire d'enfants qui se retrouvent dans l'immeuble où ils vivaient autrefois, sur le point d'être démoli.
Sixth-graders Kosuke and Natsume grew up in the same apartment building as childhood friends. L'an dernier j'assistais au festival d'Annecy à une séance Work In Progress prometteuse du long métrage d'animation français Le Petit Nicolas - Qu'est-ce qu'on attend pour être heureux ?, réalisé par Amandine Fredon & Benjamin Massoubre, et bien sûr adapté des livres jeunesses de René Goscinny et Jean-Jacques Sempé (ce projet ayant pour parti pris de mettre en scène aussi ces auteurs légendaires, mais je n'en dis pas plus :-).
Produit par Onyx, ce film sortira le 12 octobre au cinéma via Bac Films, et vient d'être sélectionné en séance spéciale au prochain festival de Cannes.

Le studio japonais Colorido (dont je vous parle depuis 9 ans et dont j'ai été le premier a diffuser des court métrages au ciné en France) fête ses 10 ans sur Youtube les 6 et 7 Mai à travers un festival en ligne où seront proposées plusieurs de leurs productions.

Encore un nouvelle bande annonce pour Lightyear, le long-métrage d'animation Pixar qui présente les origines de Buzz Lightyear (Buzz l'Éclair) de Toy Story.
J'ai encore envie d'y croire même si chaque nouveau trailer ne me fait plus ressentir la hype que j'avais eu sur le premier teaser (peut-être était-ce juste la magie d'un bon montage, qui n'en dévoile pas trop, et avec une musique de Bowie parfaitement choisie).

En 2018, Netflix recrutait en grande pompe un nombre assez hallucinant de talents pour développer des projets animés (souvenez-vous ce spot que j'avais partagé).
Un peu moins de 4 ans plus tard, c'est la douche froide pour les auteurs Netflix Animation de la branche Kids & Family : la plateforme vient d'annoncer l'annulation de nombreux projets, notamment la série adaptée du comics Bone, la série Toil and Trouble de Lauren Faust, ou encore une adaptation de The Twits de Roald Dahl (qui pourrait cependant aboutir à un film).
En cause, de mauvaises performances de certaines séries jeunesses pourtant de qualité (comme "City of Ghosts" ou "Centaurworld"), selon les datas de Netflix, à savoir notamment les fameux nombres de vues auquel peu de gens ont accès, même les auteurs.
Et ces chiffres secrets sont le nerf de la guerre chez Netflix, puisque la société exploite malheureusement peu ses productions originales en dehors de la plateforme (quasiment pas de licensing/merchandising, ce qui est pourtant courant voire moteur sur des productions jeunesses notamment).

Après avoir travaillé en exclu avec Apple pour le long métrage Wolfwalkers, le studio Cartoon Saloon (Song of the Sea, The Secret of Kells) a signé son prochain film avec Netflix cette fois (co-produit avec Mockingbird Productions).
Il s'agira de My Father's Dragon, film d'animation réalisé par Nora Twomey (The Breadwinner), basé sur le livre pour enfants de Ruth Stiles Gannett, et dont voici la première image ci-dessous.
Et les plus attentifs d'entre vous se souviendront qu'il s'agit d'un vieux projet puisque je vous en avais déjà parlé en 2016 à l'époque où il devait être co-réalisé avec Tomm Moore ;-]
Synopsis: Struggling to cope after a move to the city with his mother, Elmer runs away in search of Wild Island and a young dragon who waits to be rescued. Elmer’s adventures introduce him to ferocious beasts, a mysterious island and the friendship of a lifetime.

Voici le trailer final du film live Shin Ultraman réalisé par Shinji Higuchi avec son poto Hideaki Anno (Evangelion), qui avaient déjà signé ensemble Shin Godzilla.
Produit par Toho & Tsubaraya Productions, en partenariat avec le Studio Khara (fondé par Anno), ce long métrage sort le 13 mai 2022 au cinéma au Japon.

En mémoire d'Osamu Kobayashi (Beck, Paradise Kiss), disparu il y a tout juste 1 an, son compte Twitter officiel relaie aujourd'hui une nouvelle preview vidéo de son ultime projet (inachevé) de série Dronko Rondo, adapté du roman "Doron Korondo" de Yusuke Kitano.
Cette nouvelle preview (une sorte d'animatique) a été produite par les amis de Kobayashi, et notamment Koji Morimoto (en co-réal), qui souhaitent poursuivre le projet (les sociétés AsuraFilm et Gatoon sont également créditées).
Je vous mets également en dessous la précédente preview vidéo du projet (avec sous titres anglais) réalisée par Kobayashi lui même en 2019.
